Branches of Edeka and Rewe are among the nominees for the top prize in Germany's annual Organic Trade Awards, organised by the Central Marketing Organisation of German Agricultural Industries (CMA).
The 'Selly' awards, which will be presented to gold, silver and bronze level winners at a ceremony to be held on 16 September at the third Bio Handels-Forum in Cologne, are given to those supermarkets and natural food retail stores which develop and present the best sales concepts and most innovative marketing strategies for organic products.
The winners of this year's retail organics prize will be named in six categories, according to the size of their operations. The nominees in the food retailer category are: Edeka aktivmarkt, Alzenau; Konsum Frische-Markt, Dresden; Marktkauf SB-Warenhaus, Bielefeld; Rewe:XL Hundertmark, Emmelshausen; and Tegut, Darmstadt.
The organic trade competition is part of a CMA-backed programme of support for the marketing of organic products and is also supported by the European Union.
