The Regional Food Group for Yorkshire and Humber (RFG) will be representing regional food from Britain for the first time, at Gulfood in Dubai.

The annual four day exhibition provides an opportunity for manufacturers, distributors and suppliers from around the world to conduct business with representatives from the food and hospitality trade and takes place between 23-26 February.

Export is a current focus for the RFG as organisation works to develop the sale and consumption of great Yorkshire and Humber food worldwide, representing sectors across the food and drink industry.

RFG chief executive Jonathan Knight, who will be attending the event, said: “As an organisation we already have over 40 members exporting produce to countries all over the world.

“Exporting to the Gulf States is attractive from both retail and food service viewpoints, due to the rise in Western-style hospitality, the high percentage of company headquarters based there and the growing ex-pat community. The region also sources for Indian and African markets.

“Having a presence at Gulfood is essential in taking our Yorkshire and Humber produce further, and we hope to help our members target these emerging export markets.”

Deliciouslyorkshire, RFG’s consumer brand, will showcase food and drink producers from the region including gluten, wheat and lactose-free supplier Delicious Alchemy, Aunt Bessie’s Yorkshire puddings and Holme Farmed Venison amongst others.

Deliciouslyorkshire member Mumtaz Ventures will be exhibiting from their own stand. The company specialises in manufacturing a wide range of food products from the Kashmir region of Pakistan.

Zeina Foods, also a Delciouslyorkshire member, will be exhibiting products from their own stand. The established family business specialises in award-winning nut, dried fruit and chocolate products.

“No doubt the current economic climate, a weak pound and the growing reputation for UK food and drink overseas will dictate a continued demand on a global scale, and we hope to ensure our members take advantage of the opportunities,” said Knight.
