The Fresh Produce Forum, which runs alongside Fruit Logistica in Berlin, will ask the global produce trade whether it needs a relaunch.

The forum will run under the title "Top image but low returns. Does fresh produce need a relaunch?"

The keynote speaker at the 29th edition of the forum is Prof David Hughes from Imperial College London, who is an international expert in fresh produce marketing.

The forum will tackle a number of key questions including what strategies are needed to offer consumers a healthy range of fresh produce at prices that are also satisfactory to growers and suppliers; how can the expectations of today's consumers be brought in line with fair prices; and what suppliers and retailers can do to remedy the problem.

A panel discussion focusing on different approaches and exploring innovative solutions will include contributions from Andreas Allenspach, fresh produce marketing manager at Migros AG in Switzerland and Matthias Geuder, managing director of Univeg Germany.
