The National Farmers' Union has brought out a winter recipe leaflet featuring home-grown produce and the British Farm Standard red tractor logo. The meals on the Food from Britain sponsored leaflet include beef casserole with parsnips, chicken and carrots in cream sauce, Yorkshire pudding and cheesy vegetables, and a potato, leek and bacon chowder.

'Great meals using easy, step-by-step recipes have been designed to suit all tastes using the best of British produce,' said NFU president Ben Gill. 'They will certainly counteract the cold winter months ahead.' The leaflet will be distributed to all NFU regional offices and handed out at events throughout the autumn and winter from harvest festival celebrations to winter food fairs and farmers' markets.

The red and blue tractor logo denotes food grown and reared to farm assurance standards. The leaflet itself has been funded as part of a £3million package given to Food from Britain by the department for the environment, food and rural affairs for foot and mouth recovery activities to help re-build lost sales and markets at home and abroad.
