Two award-winning Welsh food companies have teamed up to ensure that homeless young people and vulnerable women in South Wales enjoy a quality hot meal on Christmas Day.
The Really Welsh Trading Company and UK ingredients specialist Beacon Foods from Brecon have donated 900 delicious ready meals to homeless charity Llamau.
Packs of cauliflower cheese and leek and potato gratin will be distributed to the charity's centres across South Wales in time for Christmas Day. Both products won gold awards in the Vegetarian Ready Meals category at last year's prestigious Great Taste Awards.
Llamau was selected to receive the donation because its headquarters in Cathedral Road, Cardiff are just a stone's throw from Really Welsh's base at the Swalec Stadium.
Richard Arnold, Really Welsh's commercial director, said: "We are delighted to support such a deserving local charity during the season of goodwill. The products that we have donated are made from healthy Welsh ingredients and are ideal for Christmas meals."
Beacon Foods makes both delicious ready meals for the Really Welsh Trading Company, suppliers of fresh, high-quality cauliflowers, leeks, daffodils, ice cream and Welsh Black beef burgers, which are all grown or sourced in Wales.
Edward Gough, managing director of Beacon Foods, said: "Christmas is a time when we should all spare a thought for homeless people and the less fortunate in our society. Hopefully, the donated meals will ensure that homeless young people and vulnerable women are able to enjoy a hot meal on Christmas Day."
Frances Beecher, chief executive of Llamau, said: "We really appreciate the support from Really Welsh and Beacon Foods. This time of year can be particularly difficult for many of the young people and vulnerable women we support, who are not with their families.
"Donations like this can mean the difference between having a hot meal and going without food and will really help to make their Christmas Day as enjoyable as possible."
