Waitrose appoints food technology boss

Waitrose has appointed a new director of food technology.

David Croft will join the upmarket retailer from Kraft Food, where he was director of sustainable agriculture on 26 September.

Previously, he was director of conformance and sustainability at Cadbury, with responsibility for covering food safety and quality, environmental management as well as sustainability.

He also led the confectionary brand’s Cocoa Partnership and the conversion to Fairtrade. He has previously worked for The Co-operative supermarket.

Waitrose’s technical manager for agronomy Alan Wilson said of Croft: “He brings a wealth of experience in both technical functions but also marketing product and CSR.

“This has led David to have engaged with relevant government bodies as well as NGOs and the media at national and international level to create effective relationships and create working partnerships.”
