Organic baby food brand Babease has secured a listing in 850 Tesco stores for its vegetable-based products.

The supermarket is stocking 10 pouches from the Babease First Tastes and Adding Textures ranges from this month, which include updated recipes and a new and exclusive line to Tesco - Brown Rice & Chicken with Broccoli, Pumpkin & Peas with Thai Herbs and Spices.

Babease believes its concept of vegetable-led weaning will prove popular in a crowded market dominated by fruit-based baby food.

The range is being billed as 'food for babies, not baby food' and has a stated mission 'to revolutionise the way parents wean their children with its organic, vegetable-led range, made up of exciting, expertly formulated recipes that introduce wide-ranging, savoury flavours from the very first taste.'

The recipes, which are based predominantly around vegetables, 'contain no hidden fruit, are nutritionally balanced and are specially created using the combined expertise of nutritionists and Babease founder and chef Tom Redwood.'

Babease points out that it is one of only a few baby food brands to be made in the UK and sources the majority of its ingredients from the UK. Ingredients are listed on the front of packs, while the backs contain an ingredients wheel.

The First Tastes range (RRP £1.20) features Sweet Potato, Carrot & Cauliflower; Butternut Squash, Carrot & Broccoli; Pumpkin & Pea; Pear & Mixed Berries, Coconut Water, Brown Rice & Quinoa; and Sweet Potato & Pear, Coconut Water, Brown Rice & Quinoa.

The Adding Texture range (RRP £1.50), for babies from seven months plus, includes five other vegetable-heavy lines, with all variants in both ranges gluten and dairy free.
