Vale's Fresh extends its range

A new range of par-cooked potatoes has been launched into the foodservice industry by prepared potato specialist Vale’s Fresh.

There will be two initial lines in the Vale's Fresh prepared potato range - whole peeled potatoes, and diced peeled potatoes - aimed primarily at the public sector, especially hospitals and schools, as well as caterers who use prepared potatoes.

They are par-cooked and need to be boiled, steamed or roasted before serving.

The new range follows the introduction of fresh chilled chips in November last year, when the foodservice brand for Greenvale AP was launched.

The par-cooked range is aimed at helping caterers to reduce food miles, support British farmers and serve healthier food.

Jason Spires from Vale's Fresh said: "Prepared potatoes are staple kitchen ingredients for many caterers, especially in the public sector. A lot of schools and hospitals currently rely on imported products. Not only are the Vale's Fresh potatoes 100 per cent British, they are also very competitively priced - especially with the current strength of the Euro.

"We worked closely with our potential customers to ensure the product was just right for schools and hospitals - the right size, texture and taste."

Vale's Fresh potatoes are 100 per cent British, with no additives or preservatives, and a 28-day shelf life. The supplier uses only fit-for-purpose potato varieties that are suitable for boiling or roasting, which means that varieties will change throughout the year.
