The Univeg group has appointed an executive management team for its fruit and vegetables business unit.

The unit has grown dramatically in recent seasons due to internal growth as well as strategic acquisitions such as Bakker Barendrecht, Bocchi, Katopé and latterly Atlanta and Alara.

Francis Kint has been named ceo of the unit and reports directly to Univeg ceo Hein Deprez, who leads the Univeg management team worldwide. Kint’s focus is on strategic and market development. He will also remain as md of Univeg Deutschland and will continue to devote a significant share of his time to Univeg’s business in Germany.

Reporting to Kint are Tom Paemeleire, who is chief operating officer of the unit and Eric Aelvoet who is chief financial officer, and already has 11 years experience with the Univeg group.

Univeg said in a statement that the aim of the change is to have the unit led by a “focused team to maximise synergies by further integrating the companies of the group and making all Univeg’s product lines and competences of its teams available for all markets”.
