Sainsbury’s appointed two new board members ahead of its annual general meeting.
Mary Harris has been brought in as non-executive director, having previously held executive roles at Pepsi and McKinsey.
And Mike Coupe is a new executive director, one of four on the board alongside chief executive Justin King, finance director Darren Shapland and chairman Philip Hampton. Coupe held positions at Tesco, Asda and Iceland, before taking up the role as Sainsbury's trading director in 2004.
Hampton said: "They both bring a strong understanding of a customer led retail environment and I'm confident they will make a significant contribution in their new roles.”
