Tesco is being sued for unfair dismissal and racism by a black security guard who was sacked following an altercation with an abusive customer.
Former boxer Terry Duffus, 43, went to an employment tribunal after being cleared in court last week of causing grevious bodily harm.
He said he acted in self-defence after a customer came to the Tesco store in Cheltenham to racially abuse him last year.
Duffus, who once sparred with Lennox Lewis, is claiming the store was wrong to sack him before he could prove his innocence in court.
