Syngenta Bioline has launched spider mite predator sachet Anderline in a controlled release sachet (CRS), and is the only company to produce Amblyseius andersoni commercially, according to sales manager Andrew Stevenson.

The sachet, which releases up to 250 mites over four to six week, can be used to treat and prevent two spotted mites, russet mites and other mite pests.

Simon Foster, quality manager at Syngenta Bioline, said: “The mites that are released onto the crop from the sachet are well-fed and in top condition ready to search for prey.

“Amblyseius andersoni is active over a wide temperature range, even down to 6C, so it can be used much earlier in the season than other mite predators such as Pytoseiulus persimilis.

“The response we have had has been overwhelming.”

The company has been field testing Anderline for the control of pest mites in up to 30 trial sites across the UK, Spain, Holland and France over the last eight months.

The product is available in a twin sachet system which can be used both in irrigated crops and those watered from overhead.
