Tomato supplier Stubbins Marketing has defied a tough worldwide market to report a profit increase.

The firm filed pre-tax profits of £578,556 for the year to 30 June 2010, up from £358,693 for the previous year, according to accounts filed at Companies House this week.

Stubbins reported a turnover of £69.3 million, down from £76.6m for the previous year. Operating profit for 2010 was up to £980,591, from £806,658 the previous year.

The directors said in their report: “The board are of the opinion that given the current worldwide difficulties and resulting impact on the food industry, they are pleased that the company has maintain[ed] its profitability and the board considered the year to be a success.”
