Stir fry made easy

LINPAC Plastics has developed its fresh produce offering by extending the Polypropylene (PP) range to include a tray for stir fry. This move follows the publication of research by Warwick Medical School, which concluded that when boiling vegetables strips, most of their nutritional value is lost.

As part of the study researchers tested a range of cooking methods and recorded which method best preserved the natural anti-oxidant and anti-cancer properties of fresh vegetables. Traditional boiling was discouraged, whilst stir frying, currently a market worth £19 million in the UK, came highly recommended by researchers.

LINPAC has now developed a rigid PP tray, which perfectly presents and protects the product, ensuring that the stir fry mix arrives with the consumer in perfect condition, whilst visually and nutritionally intact.

The PP tray protects the fresh vegetables from potential damage throughout the supply chain and can be overwrapped or lid sealed, which provides a barrier to ensure that the stir-fry mix remains fresh and tasty, and has the longest shelf life possible.

Anthony Debus, product manager at LINPAC Plastics, said: “Stir fries are the ultimate in healthy convenience food and are the perfect way to ensure that customers get the full benefit from their 5 A DAY. Our new tray gives retailers the opportunity to offer further ease and convenience to the customer by allowing them to divide the tray to include the addition of noodles. By containing all the ingredients in one convenient and efficient pack, the tray allows customers to create a quick and easy meal which preserves the goodness in their ingredients.”

To complement the stir fry tray, LINPAC also offers retail ready packaging (RRP), designed to attractively display products while removing the costly process of unpacking the goods by hand at the retail outlet. The RRP trays can be manufactured from recycled PET and can be fully recycled.

LINPAC Plastics supplies an innovative product range in excess of 10,000 items to the retail, catering and fast food service industries, which range from trays and films to disposable tableware. Its blue chip customer base includes household names such as Sainsbury’s, KFC, McDonalds, Marks & Spencer, Asda and Tesco.
