Commuters and tourists alike can pick up seasonal produce alongside season tickets following the opening of a new daily retail market at St Pancras International train station in London.

Officially launched on September 7, Sourced Market will offer a range of produce that is fresh, seasonal, healthy and responsibly sourced.

All the producers, which will supply the market with other fresh products such as cheese and meat, are handpicked by backer Sourced, in order to reflect the company’s aims and aspirations.

Packaging must be kept to a minimum and ideally produced from recycled or sustainable sources and be 100 per cent recyclable, it insists.

In line with other markets run by Sourced, as much of the produce as possible will be local - food miles will be kept to a minimum by sourcing direct and by working with farmers and producers from Kent and the South East.

Sourced co-founder Ben O’Brien: “We are so excited to be opening this market in the heart of the capital. For a while now we have wanted to bring all the benefits of a great produce market to London's busy commuters, seven days a week.

“The station in turn wanted a genuine and independent produce market with great food and knowledgeable and passionate staff - exactly what Sourced Market is all about.”
