Sponsors sign up as Re:fresh deadline looms large

Four more sponsors have committed their names to awards at this year’s Re:fresh Awards in recent weeks, with two new names on this year’s trophies.

Stubbins Marketing, the Waltham Cross based salads specialist, will sponsor the Innovation of the Year award 2008, while New Covent Garden Market is the sponsor of the Floral Business of the Year award 2008.

Spanish food and drink promotional organisation Foods from Spain continues for the fourth year as the sponsor of the three-pronged Retailer of the Year award, which presents prizes to the top multiple, convenience and independent retailers of the last 12 months. And importing giant Capespan has signed up for its fifth year supporting the Wholesaler of the Year category.

The entry deadline for the awards has been extended due to demand from the trade, and now falls on March 7, the end of this week. The Re:fresh panel of judges, chaired by Fresh Produce Consortium chief executive Nigel Jenney, will then study every entry and decide on a shortlist which will be announced by the end of April.

Seats are selling out fast for the ceremony, which has been a total sell out for the last three years, so please get in quickly to avoid disappointment.
