For the third year running, for the Lord Mayor's Show, staff and students of Hadlow college, Kent, will design and construct a 44 foot long float promoting the three City of London markets - New Spitalfields, Billingsgate and Smithfield.

Mike Culverwell, clerk and superintendent of New Spitalfields Market who is organising the project said: 'We have worked with Hadlow over the last two years. Their enthusiasn and creative flair can only continue to create a first class float for our markets.' The float's original concept was created by Hadlow's publicity and exhibitions officer, Brian Patey. This year, represntations of nursery rhymes such as 'Oranges and Lemons' and Little Bo-Peep will form the basis of what promises to be an eye-catching display.

Patey said: 'This year's float will be great fun for spectators. Each icon has specially made mechanics, for example, Little Bo-Peep's sheep will mechanically move up and down.' Paul Hannan, acting principal of Hadlow College commented: 'We are absolutely thrilled to be working with the Corporation of London once again on such a prestigious project. The team are working extremely hard to create yet another eye-catching float for the City markets.' The show takes place on November 9.
