Angus Soft Fruits has increased its pre-tax profit.

The Scottish-based business raised its profit from £145,240 to £162,874 in the year ending 30 April 2014.

Turnover, though, was down from £70.4 million in 2012/13, to £67m, according to accounts filed at Companies House.

Speaking in the statement accompanying the accounts, Neil Redford, finance director at Angus Soft Fruits, said that the company 'had performed well'.

He added: 'The management continue to develop and maintain good relationships with suppliers and customers. In the next few years, Angus Soft Fruits will invest heavily in new product development to create new varieties of soft fruit to secure competitive advantage in the marketplace.'
