Will Sibley, Master of the Worshipful Company of Fruiterers welcomed delegates to the third annual Re:fresh Conference with an inspirational presentation on the future of the fresh produce industry.
Celebrating the livery’s 400th anniversary, Sibley presented a brief history of the company. He told delegates of the Fruiterer’s keen support for research into fresh produce, which he predicts will have a great effect on the industry.
Increasing interest in nutrition and the functionality of food would give many companies a clear way forward for the future, he said: “There’s no doubt that the future holds new opportunities and problems. Research holds the key. Some will struggle to see the relevance but it touches us all in new ways.”
