The CTP Awards, voted for by shoppers, are run by research and consultancy firm him!

Mike Baker, Budgens director, said: “It’s a privilege to win one of these awards because the views of our customers are what matter the most to us.

'We’ve worked hard to establish Budgens as a great place to top up your shop, with improved meals for tonight and breakfast and lunch offers. With tough competition from some huge brands, we are delighted that Budgens came out on top in this category. Congratulations to all our independent retailers who really deserve this award.”

Him! research collated over 100,000 question responses to bring 16 awards that recognise the cream of the industry. The firm's communications director, Katie Littler, said: “We have seen a significant rise in the proportion of shoppers using convenience for their ‘top up’ shops. The UK convenience industry certainly has a lot to celebrate and there are so many fine examples of retailers and suppliers really listening and reacting to their shoppers needs.”
