The first direct reefer shipment to the UK of South African grapes this season docked at Sheerness on Tuesday. Seatrade’s specialised reefer Prince of Tides brought the consignment and discharged 1,787 pallets at the port before calling at Rotterdam to discharge a further 1,100 pallets. The vessel, which was loaded at Cape Town’s fresh produce terminal also carried a full deck of reefer containers.

This week’s arrivals were the first in the weekly fruit service to Medway’s Sheerness and Rotterdam’s Seabrex facilities, which will continue for the 10-month long South African fruit export season.
