The SPS replaces the SPE range

Sharp Interpack is launching its SPS range of punnets as it begins to gear up for the 2010 soft-fruit season.

SPS has evolved from its predecessor - the SPE range - and offers enhancements in terms of product visibility and up to 10 per cent better crate fit.

Mark Tollman, sales director at Sharp Interpack, said: “The soft-fruit market has wide and varied packaging demands and our punnet ranges are evolving to fit those customer needs. While providing improved product visibility, the SPS family offers greater crate fit, which ultimately means fewer trucks on the road with more volume per truckload.”

The SPS range is made from 50-80 per cent recycled PET, containing approved post-consumer waste from the UK and European waste stream. This is sourced from recycled cola and mineral water bottles that are reground, super-washed and approved for direct food contact.

The SPS range, which is currently made for the UK, comprises 40mm, 60mm and 85mm depths. These will be sold into the market in January 2010. Further depths will be announced over the next few months.

The packs can be heat-sealed or lidded. There is improved lid retention and ventilation with mini perforations in the lid. Lids can be stacked for automatic de-nesting, which facilitates automatic lifting of the lids from the stacks.
