South England Farms has appointed Gordon Stokes as its head of farming.
Stokes has been producing fresh produce for major British retailers for 18 years, starting off in Zimbabwe before moving to work for Langmead Farms in the UK in 2000.
SEF managing director Greville Richards said: “Gordon has managed a diverse portfolio of crops and brings a wealth of experience to our farm operation at a very exciting time in SEF’s development plans.
“With our new products coming on line and continued growth of our brassicas business, Cornwall’s climate and providence has created a wonderful marketing and production opportunity for many local growers.”
SEF, based at Leedstown near Hayle in West Cornwall, farms in excess of 5,000 acres of vegetables and cereals in Cornwall.
