Sainsbury's will restock what it describes as the 'ultimate mashing potato' as part of its premium Taste The Difference range.
From the end of September, the Flair variety, which was first launched last year and was developed by Greenvale, will be sold in selected Sainsbury's stores nationwide, and the retailer said that good weather conditions for growers could see the potato sold until May 2014.
Sainsbury's potato buyer Julien Roberts said the potato's golden appearance and velvety smooth texture gives it an edge over other varieties when it comes to mashing.
He said:“We were extremely impressed by the consistent mashing quality of the Flair potato – it really does give perfect results every time and with an extended season this year, our customers can enjoy delicious, smooth yet fluffy mash for much longer.”
