Sainsbury's launches Looney promotion

Sainsbury’s has launched an on-pack instant win promotion on carrots and the Blue Parrot Range of apples and bananas, to coincide with the release of the Looney Tunes Movie.

The instant win label, produced by Leading Edge Labels and Packaging offers consumers the chance to win a Looney Tunes bedroom makeover or one of 50 special edition Looney Tunes goody bags.

Consumers purchasing products simply take a coin, peel open the label to scratch the instant win panel to reveal whether they are a winner.

The “Looney Tunes - Back in Action” movie features Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and the rest of the Looney Tunes gang, along with film stars such as Steve Martin and Brendan Fraser.

Sainsbury’s Marcus Hoggarth said: “There is a natural fit between the Looney Tunes film and characters with both carrots and the Sainsbury’s Blue Parrot range. When Leading Edge presented the concept to use we immediately saw the synergy between the two.

“The label produced by Leading Edge provides a relevant and interactive mechanic which has wide-spread appeal to the target audience not only to parents who have grown up loving Looney Tunes and the original cartoons, but also their children, who are now familiar with the characters.”
