Sainsbury’s has increased its c-store portfolio with the acquisition of SL Shaw.

The chain, which has a turnover of around £11 million a year, will now see its five stores converted to the Sainsbury’s Local format.

Jim McCarthy, Sainsbury’s md of convenience, said: “We are delighted we have been able to acquire these five stores. These are quality stores in good locations and they fit perfectly with our commitment to grow sales in our convenience business by £400m by the end of 2007/8.”
