Sainbury's trials scan-and-go app

Sainsbury’s is trialing a new mobile phone scan-and-go app in three UK stores.

Around 800 Nectar-card-holding customers will be involved in the trial, chosen through an online application process, which will use the new technology at Clerkenwell Local and Bethnal Green Local stores in London, and a Tadley-based store in Hampshire.

Customers will be able to scan their shopping, using iPhone and Android smartphones, and track spend and view discounts. Users can then pay at the till without unloading their trolley or shopping bags.

'We’re always looking for ways to enhance the shopping experience for our customers, and our innovative Mobile Scan & Go technology is fantastic for those wanting to manage their budget or simply those who want a quicker in-store experience,' concluded Luke Jensen, Sainsbury’s group development director.
