Andy Sadler has stepped down as chairman of Avalon Produce, the company has announced.
Sadler, who has worked in the top-fruit industry for 30 years, stepped down last week having worked for many years at Norman Collett, one of the three companies which came together in July 2015 to form Avalon.
Sadler will continue to work with the business in an advisory capacity, with the board revealing that discussions are currently being held with a 'leading farming industry figure' about taking over as chair.
The board's statement said: 'Through his chairing of the board, Andy has delivered confident and experienced guidance during the crucial merger process and has seen Avalon thrive in a highly successful first season.
'He leaves the company confident of the strategic direction of the business and feels that, now the transition is complete, he will take the opportunity to further his interests outside of the top-fruit Industry.
'The board of Avalon is appreciative of the commitment Andy has shown throughout his tenure and thanks him for his dedication and leadership,' the statement added.'They wish him and his family every happiness for the future.'
