Rubens targets third gold medal

The Kent-grown Rubens apple is hoping to win the accolade of Britain’s Tastiest Apple for the third time in a row at this year’s National Fruit Show.

“This wonderfully tasting British apple has already won the title of Britain's Tastiest Apple two years in a row and in this particularly British celebratory year our growers are going the extra mile to win the title for an unprecedented third year in a row,” said Michael Joyles from Rubens' marketing company, Norman Collett.

At the event, which takes place in October at the Kent Showground, the new marketing strategy for Rubens apples will also be revealed.

A new animated cartoon character called ‘Tasty Rubens’ will be a big part of the Rubens Apples marketing campaign for the coming year.

"Tasty Rubens as a character will bring brand recognition and add fun for consumers who will be able to follow his adventures,” concluded Joyles.
