Well-established packaging technology manufacturers Redpack Packaging Machinery has undergone a complete refurbishment to improve productivity.

After 32 years manufacturing flow wrapping machines, Redpack’s reputation for rugged equipment that ‘just keeps on working’ is well deserved. However, the engineering advances of recent years mean that its earlier Pacer machines do not have all the benefits of today’s technologies.

Redpack’s Steve Crow is pleased with the response to the new life refurbishment service, he said: “Our machines are used in a wide cross section of industries around the world - pharmaceutical, house wares, fresh produce, biscuits, cakes and confectionery, snack multi-packs - and in some sectors the credit crunch has resulted in a freeze on the purchase of all capital equipment.

“This refurbishment service provides an alternative way forward for Packaging Development Managers faced with the need for increased or more flexible output from existing production lines.”

Redpack’s refurbishment process is a complete flow wrapper rebuild service. It sees machines stripped down, shotblasted and repainted, rewired with updated electronics, fitted with new bearings and parts, inspected for current safety regulations, and CE marked prior to being tested and set up to customer product specification.

As a result of the increased productivity, reduced film wastage and improved set-up and change over times achieved following a machine rebuild, an increasing number of manufacturers and contract packers are now looking to Redpack’s engineers to undertake upgrades of other brands of flow wrapping machines.
