Redbridge Produce & Flowers has been awarded the contract to supply Shropshire County Council's school and social care kitchens with fresh fruit and vegetables.

The company, part of Redbridge Holdings, will now supply 250 primary schools, secondary schools, nursing homes and day centres in the Shropshire area with regular deliveries of fresh produce from Redbridge's Stoke and Hereford branches, where three extra staff have been recruited to service this new account.

Deliveries to the schools and care centres will also be dovetailed with those to existing customers, ensuring that Redbridge keeps its commitment to reduce carbon emissions and the impact of heavy lorries on the local environment.

Richard Clements, branch manager at Redbridge Produce & Flowers Hereford, said: "I am looking forward to working with Shropshire and Telford County Councils to develop a wide range of healthy eating menus that appeal to both children and adults."
