Dutch glasshouse systems specialist Priva is restructuring its senior team to reinforce its UK operations.

The company, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, has appointed two of its most experienced senior executives to head up its UK business.

Michael Powell has worked for Priva for the past 13 years and has led accounts teams in Australia and New Zealand. He will take the helm of the accounts division in the UK and Ireland.

Nick Field, who joined Priva in 1990 and has more than 10 years' experience as technical manager for the company, will remain as head of customer service and lead the UK team alongside Powell.

UK director Chris Addis is to leave the company after a long and respected career to pursue his own interests.

Priva chief executive officer Meiny Prins said: “Priva’s leading position in the British horticultural market has been built up from a standing start over the last 25 years and we are very grateful for the part that Chris Addis and his team played in driving that success.”

Priva’s horticultural and building control businesses will now be co-located at a UK head office in Watford. Supported by the communication, IT and financial resources of the Priva HQ in De Lier, the Netherlands, the UK team will focus on climate solutions for new and existing customers instead of organising back office infrastructure.

Group sales director John van der Knaap said: “With both sides of the business working together to pool knowledge and resources, we have unprecedented operational synergy and efficiency that allows us to provide a world class solution, for both markets, at an international and local level.”

Priva is well known in the field of automated climate and process control for greenhouse horticulture with offices in the Netherlands, UK, Germany, Sweden, Canada and China.
