The British Potato Council’s biennial British Potato event looks set for success with a high number of ticket sales and exhibitors numbers already registered.
With a new venue in Harrogate, the event has expanded this year, attracting a wider range of participants, said BPC’s Hannah Angus: “The changes have attracted a range of new exhibitors alongside the regulars and the venue’s excellent facilities have also allowed us to arrange many extra features. Visitors will find a great deal to interest them.”
Tesco is sponsoring the two-day event, which will feature a dedicated packaging zone, showcasing the latest in product handling as well as demonstrations from companies promoting new packhouse IT systems.
There will also be a range of interactive features, including materials handling workshops with particular emphasis on reducing damage and bruising. Special drop-in seminars will cover topics like sprout suppression, soil management, as well as business topics like benchmarking, market information and opportunities in the foodservice sector.
Business matters will also be discussed at greater length at three sector-specific conventions being held on the same site. With a separate admittance charge, it will include presentations from Dr Patrick Moore speaking about environmental issues and Professor David Hughes addressing consumer trends.
