Potato blight has been found in South Lincolnshire, placing the area's potato crops on full alert and in immediate danger of attack from the disease.

The British Potato Council (BPC) identified the blight infection on a potato dump close to Holbeach. And the BPC has warned that potato growers in the surrounding area should increase their crop monitoring and blight control programmes.

BPC blight scouts are helping UK potato growers fight the destructive disease as part of the BPC's nationwide programme – 'Fight against Blight'. The campaign seeks to reduce the affects of blight, which can halve yields if left uncontrolled.
