The Plants for People programme is using this year's National Science Week as an opportunity to educate children and their parents, in an effort to reach out to the next generation of plant buyers.

The Flower Council of Holland funded programme has developed a series of interactive Plant Science activity sheets for children aged 5 - 7, which are available on their website www.plantsforpeople.org.

The activity sheets help the children learn the good plants can for people at home, school and the workplace. The sheets feature cartoon drawings to illustrate the activities. Each sheet asks the child to complete one or more tasks, from identifying air pollutants to completing a story about "Patsy Plant".

This year's National Science Week takes place March 12-21.
