Pauleys has become the first major fresh produce wholesaler in foodservice to be awarded the Red Tractor logo, and has launched a new product range certified to the scheme.

Available through Pauleys and Brakes, caterers are able to purchase up to 100 different seasonal lines all accredited by the Red Tractor Farm Assurance Scheme.

Pauleys launched its association with Red Tractor at a supplier and customer day at its Corby Distribution Centre. Growers set up stalls demonstrating their produce. Visiting customers were given the opportunity to talk to them as well as meet with Pauleys and members of the Assured Farm Standards team.

David Ibbotson, director of produce for Pauleys, said: “Being awarded Red Tractor certification is something we are very proud of. Not only does it demonstrate our commitment to British farming, it enables our customers to continue to buy from Pauleys with confidence. There is a continuing demand for local, regional and British produce, and the Red Tractor logo on many of our lines ensures customers have a clear understanding of a product's origin and quality, enabling them to make an informed choice.”

Attending the launch, Mark Tatchell, chairman of Assured Produce, said: "I'm delighted to see Pauleys working with Red Tractor to deliver quality and safe fresh produce from British Farms. This is a real innovation in the fresh produce service industry and we look forward to the ever-increasing association with Pauleys."

Red Tractor is the number-one food assurance mark in the UK, with 78,000 Red Tractor farmers and growers accounting for between 66 per cent and 95 per cent of output in the main commodity sectors.
