Four members of Bedshire-based Parripak Foods are currently in training for the inaugural Samworth Brothers Charity Challenge, to be held in the Lake District on the September 1, 2007.

Over a gruelling 12 hour period and under the expert guidance of the event support team, Distant Horizons - Parripak’s joint managing director James Parrish and team-mates Peter Brown, Stuart Taylor and Martin Hunt - will compete against more than 60 sponsored teams in three main disciplines; road cycling for 32km on off-road tracks, country lanes and on the main road around the edge of Ullswater; hill walking/ running for 12km across the challenging Helvellyn mountain range; and canoeing for 8km on Lake Ullswater.

Parrish said: “The Samworth Brothers Group is a key fund raiser for a number of charities and the challenge has been devised to allow members of the group, suppliers such as ourselves, and key customers to raise money for their own special charities. We are competing for the Macmillan Trust, which is a cancer charity and The Pasque Charity, a children’s hospice. We have pledged to raise £2,000 by the time the challenge starts. It will be tough but we are all determined to achieve this.”
