Manufacturer of tray sealing machinery for the food industry Packaging Automation Ltd (PA) was at the Food & Drink Expo to launch its eco-cut tray-sealing system. The new system is the first tray-sealing system to use 100 per cent of the sealing film when sealing trays.

The new system will allow fruit and vegetable manufacturers to cut costs, reduce waste and increase productivity, PA sales manager Neil Ashton, pictured, told FPJ. “We have already supplied the system to a vegetable and fruit packer in the UK, and the systems have been running for about six weeks,” he said. “In a conventional tray-sealing line, a machine will seal approximately 4,000 trays per reel of film, but with eco-cut we are now able to seal 8,000 trays, because it is not wasting film. So we have also doubled productivity, as well as reducing the environmental impact the system has.”
