A promotional campaign for the Outspan brand popular in the 1990s is set to make a comeback this season.

The adverts feature wild animals as a way to link it back to it roots in the African bush.

It is at a so-called “uitspan” - a place in the African bush where more than a hundred years ago wagon trails stopped for water for their animals and where travellers could refresh themselves - that the brand was first used.

The citrus brand - supplied by South African importer Capespan - will again be linked it to the African bush animals, with the message that Outspan products are a source of refreshment.

The pictures are designed to remind consumers of far away places, sunshine and the adventure of Africa.

Jasper Coetzee, communications manager at Capespan’s group head quarters in Cape Town, said: “Our research has consistently shown a very strong association between the animals of Africa and the message of refreshment that accompanies the products sold under the Outspan brand.

“There is an acknowledgement of the strength of our brand among our trading partners around the world and they concur with our judgement that the animal campaign reflects the true character of Outspan.”

The Outspan brand is sourced from South Africa, as well Australia, California, North Africa, the Mediterranean and the East, to meet global demand.
