Wonky and organic veg distributor Wholegood has expanded its range with online retailer Ocado and opened a new prep facility as part of its ongoing growth plan.
The company has also bought the rights to children’s cartoon Squarehead, which it will use to “bring theatre and ownability” to kids lunchboxes.
Ocado began listing Wholegood fruit and vegetables in January by listing 50 lines, and has now expanded this to 70 lines. The new preparation and packing facility is 3,000 sq ft and opened in February, the company said. This is in addition to its existing 28,500 sq ft warehouse.
“The latest installment in Wholegood’s ‘eat organic’ adventure revolves around a three-way alliance with Ocado, children’s book hero Squarehead and a thoughtful range of personalized kiddies’ fruit boxes which aims to encourage ‘healthier living’ lunchboxes within primary schools,” the company said.
Wholegood is also listed in Harrods and Selfridges, and the company also supplies a range of delis and restaurants throughout London.
Its produce ranges from organic ginger and turmeric to swedes, aubergines and mixed fruit juicing bags. It employs 60 people and is expecting a turnover of £10 million by 2017.
