National Farmers’ Union Scotland (NFUS) is encouraging producers to display their wares at a special food event during Edinburgh Festival.

The event, called ‘Foodies at the Festival’ will take over the George and Roxburghe Hotels in central Edinburgh during the weekend of August 18-19.

The event will include 70 food and drink exhibitors and will feature including a cookery theatre, tastings, and a mini-farmers’ market.

The estimated visitor attendance is more than 8,000 and so the NFUS is encouraging its members to take a stand at the exhibition and be part of the best that Scottish food and drink has to offer at the Edinburgh Festival.

NFUS is encouraging all those who market their own produce to contact the event organisers and go along to exhibit and promote their produce. But the NFUS members who take up the opportunity will be given a discount on the normal stand price.

“Scottish food and drink are second to none when it comes to quality and so it’s crucial that we promote them wherever we can,” said Anna Davies, NFUS communications manager. “This event is the ideal chance to show both Scottish and international visitors to the Edinburgh Festival the quality of the food produced in this small country.

“I would encourage those producers who are in a position to, to go along and exhibit at this event for the chance to reach thousands of Festival goers.”
