Since its launch earlier this year the new Mini Sirius multihead weigher, designed and built by Kidderminster-based DWS Worcester Ltd, has attracted intense interest from fruit packers across the EU.

One of weigher’s many features is that it does not require any additional labour to feed product. Once product is deposited in the bulk hopper - usually by conveyor - the process is fully automatic, requiring no manual assistance until the filled tray appears. It can handle all types of cut fruit either pre-mixed or can mix to pre-set proportions as it operates.

The machine does not require a platform or gantry, and with a width of less than one metre, it is fully mobile, and can be moved from line to line.

With ever mounting pressures on margins, this machine can be paid for in less than six months purely by savings in labour costs. A number of models are available from DWS Worcester Ltd including 10, 14 and 16 weigh heads, thus offering speeds well in excess of current hand loaded lines.
