Marks & Spencer is widening its range of squash with the launch of a mini pumpkin.

The retailer will be selling the yellow and orange striped Pumpkinini in around 50 stores from this week.

A spokeswoman said: “It’s around 20cm in diameter and quite striking. It has high sugar levels and is great for roasting or mashing.”

The new variety will be going in alongside M&S’s existing range of four squashes, which includes Acorn and Harlequin.

The retailer will also be repeating its offer of pre-carved pumpkins for the witching season. The spokeswoman said: “They proved a big success last year so we’ll be putting them into store five days before Hallowe’en.”
