Seed breeder HM-Clause showcased a range of new melon varieties at a special event at its research station in Murcia recently.
The event focused primarily on the company's current melon line-up for export markets and was attended by several of the leading English and Dutch melon importers.
Three new long shelf-life varieties grabbed particular attention at the event. These were Karman, a Charentais melon with aesthetic appeal and excellent taste; CLX MLH89 (Lambada) for the Murcia season - a new Galia melon which is said to have outstanding appearance and great internal quality; and Capoeira, a new Galia variety for the Brazilian and Central American seasons, which have good transport capacity.
