Del Monte has launched its Naked Fruit range into Budgens.
The snack pots of mango, tropical fruit salad, melon medley and Del Monte Gold extra sweet pineapple will have a £1 price point and come with a built-in spork.
Two Del Monte Naked Fruit bags have been added to the store line-up.
The range was prompted by Kantar Worldpanel figures that show a decline in sales across cakes and crisps, compared to significant rises in the snack fruit and nut categories.
Additional Kantar Worldpanel research has identified that one in every 10 out-of-home food occasions is ‘fruit’.
James Harvey, managing director at Del Monte UK, said: “Del Monte is committed to maximising consumer access to quality fruit at affordable prices so that as many people as possible can enjoy the health benefits and great taste of Del Monte fruit.”
Willy Hamilton, trading director at Budgens, added: “We have worked closely with Del Monte to develop this range of fresh snacking fruit at a great price point and early sales show that our customers agree we’re onto a winning combination.”
