Characters from the family blockbuster Madagascar are causing a stir in Asda’s produce department.

The cartoon creatures featured on selected packs of fruit, vegetables and flowers are promoting the chance to win an all-inclusive family holiday to Kenya.

In addition, with every purchase of the specially labelled products, customers will receive free zoo entry for one child for every full paying adult and £100 off a Thomson holiday.

Asda said items included in the promotion can be easily identified by the decorative sticker on packs, or the band on citrus nets.

Tying in with the release of the film, the competition will run for the three weeks left before Christmas and will feature on a range of products, from mixed peppers to avocados.

Asda’s fruit buyer Lee Harper was enthusiastic about the chain’s latest marketing venture.

He said: “By utilising characters from a popular movie we are hoping that children will be able to relate to the products and will therefore be more willing to try the product and realise that healthy is tasty.

“With the added incentive of a holiday of a lifetime to Kenya, we are hoping that this promotion will be a real success.”

The lucky winner of the two-week holiday to Kenya will be notified in writing by the 15th January 2006.
