The former chief executive of Morrisons Marc Bolland spoke about collaborative work with Writtle College in a speech given at a prestigious event attended by government ministers and industry professionals shortly before his departure.

Bolland, who in the new year will take on the position of ceo at Marks & Spencer, talked about Morrisons Great Taste, Less Waste campaign, which has seen the company work with Writtle College to find out the benefits of packaging, for instance on peppers.

Resource efficiency was also the key focus at a Waste and Resources Action Programme conference held in early November. WRAP gathered together 250 delegates from the world of brands, retailers, packaging manufacturers and local government in London to discuss resource efficiency opportunities for UK businesses.

Writtle College’s Post-harvest Unit has recently celebrated the submission of its 100th consultancy report to Morrisons Plc.
