UK GB Morrisons cheaper

Morrisons has launched a new price offensive

Morrisons has slashed the price of 800 more items in a bid draw in customers looking to tighten the purse strings after Christmas.

The cuts, which include avocado, kale, King Edward potatoes and pineapple, follow post-Brexit promotional activity from the retailer in August 2016 and a further round of back-to-school cuts in September.

A two-pack of ready-to-eat avocados has dropped from £1.80 to £1.47; a 2.5kg bag of King Edwards potatoes now costs £2 as opposed to £1.67; and a 200g bag of prepared kale has fallen in price from £1 to 84p.

In total 1,500 products are now on a ‘Price Crunch’ in Morrisons stores, with an average price reduction on 19 per cent.

Morrisons’ marketing and customer director Andy Atkinson said: “Many customers are feeling the pinch after Christmas so we are cutting prices, particularly on fresh food and everyday essentials. These price cuts will help families who are on a tighter budget and will continue to make Morrisons more competitive.”

The products on offer include a number of fresh produce items, as well as meat, bread rolls and popular frozen and household items.

In addition, Morrisons has rounded off the price of 5,490 items to the nearest pound to make it easier for customers to calculate their spend.
