Morrisons leads Bramley way

Morrisons, Punch Taverns and Booker were among those celebrating Bramley Apple Pie Week and the new English apple season with a series of promotions earlier this month.

The winner of this year’s Brammy Award for Bramley Retailer of the Year, Morrisons led the pack by promoting the Bramley apple pie in more than 300 restaurants nationwide during the week from October 4-11.

Punch Taverns also promoted Bramley apple pie in 135 Chef & Brewer restaurants during British Food Fortnight (September 19-October 4) and has extended this activity throughout October, while Booker is promoting its new Big Sidoli Bramley apple pie from October 10 right through until December in 173 cash and carry outlets across the UK.

Makro promoted its Bramley Caramel and Apple Pie successfully from October 7-20 in 33 stores nationwide.

Adrian Barlow, chairman of The Bramley Campaign, said: “All of our research shows that when it comes to apple pies, consumers know that the Bramley name means quality - great taste and terrific texture. This year marks the Bramley apple’s bicentenary, so it is great to see so many retailers, restaurants and pubs get into the spirit of celebrating one of the country’s favourite desserts, Bramley apple pie.”
