Morrisons is facing serious strike action as thousands of angry employees protest against plans to close distribution centres.

Announcing the news last week, the Morrisons' management team told workers that the closures were due to over-capacity in its centres.

Over 8,000 employees working at eight of the Morrisons' depots have voted on the strike and the result of the ballot was set back to September 15 after Morrisons' bosses questioned the validity of the first result.

The centres taken over as part of the Safeway deal are said to be most at risk. Morrison’s has announced five profit warnings since it took over the supermarket chain last year.
